Celebrating First Reconciliation (First Confession) 2018
Information Evening
There will be two information sessions for the parents of first Reconciliation canditates. The first will be for parents and guardians of students who attend St Michael's School and is on Tuesday 24 July 2017 at 7pm in the church. The second session is for parents or guardians of students from local state and private schools who wish to celebrate their first Reconciliation in 2018. It will be held on Thursday 26 July at 7pm in the church. A parent or guardian are asked to attend the information evening which will run for approximately 40 minutes. Candidates are not required to attend the information evening.
First Reconciliation Dates
Reconciliation will take place over eight separate sessions from Monday 20 August through to Thursday 23 August 2018. The first session is at 5.00pm and the second at 6.00pm on each of those days. Each session is restricted to twenty candidates and takes approximately 30 minutes. Candidates are to remain for the whole of the session.
At St Michael's Parish chidren who are baptised in the Catholic faith celebrate their first Reconciliation in Year 2 (or above). They are required to have made their first Reconciliation prior to undertaking their first Holy Communion.
Presentation Masses
Children making their first Reconciliation are to attend one of the weekend Masses at St Michael's (Saturday 6.00pm or Sunday 9.30am and 6.00pm) on 4 or 5 August, 2018. After the Homily at Mass Fr Geoffrey will call the candidates to come forward with their Photo Forms. The Parish community then prays for the candidates as they begin their preparation to celebrate the Sacrament. The Photo forms are collected and displayed in the Church in the weeks leading up to the celebration. Please print photo form in landscape orientation.

Lesson Preparation
St Michael's school candidates in Year 2 receive their lessons during school class time. St Michael's candidates in Year 3 or above, state and private school candidates prepare for their first Reconciliation with 2 x 50 minute lessons led by Katherine de Haast, our Sacramental Coordinator. Lessons take place in the church hall and full attendance is required. Lessons commence Tuesday 7th or 8th August 2018.
